When you are back to back with little families with small children, a sweet, cozy maternity session makes everything just slow down for a minute. When you know a baby has been prayed over and for, it really makes these sessions feel magical.

If you find yourself in a maternity session with me, you might expect some strange requests. I will almost always ask my maternity mamas to lay on the ground. In a field? In a forest? On a bridge? In the dirt? I will always have a blanket for you but this pose tends to be one of my favorites. I started out this photography journey by wanting to learn the art of image taking during births as a labor doula. So I love talking all things belly related. I had the pleasure of not only taking this couples maternity photos, but also to be their doula with birth images, and newborn! They are the sweetest most intentional parents.

Images are a combination of Kodak Portra 400 film taken on my medium format Pentax 645 120mm as well as with my digital images taken on my Canon 5D Mark IV. The Archetype Process – fujifilm pro pack was used to match digitals to the film.
