This cozy in-home newborn session was so much fun. Older siblings were so sweet and joy filled during our session. I love when kids ask questions about my gear and what I do! This session was a great example of why I always bring my digital Canon 5D Mark IV. This home was beautiful and had so much character, however, it lacked enough light in certain rooms (like the one pictured above). DSLRs have more range when it comes to ISO (your camera’s sensitivity to light). The particular film stock I used for this session was kodak portra 400; meaning my ISO was 400 on that film roll. The image above was shot with and ISO of 1250, in order to bring more light into the camera that just wasn’t available naturally in this room.
Mom and Dad’s primary bedroom had much more light! Which is where we took a majority of the sessions images. It’s really important to me that we document every part of your everyday life. So when dad mentioned getting some images in the front room, where they spend all of their time, I didn’t bat an eyelash. Whether its lighting equipment (maybe one day) or a hybrid setup (digital and film), I think it’s so important to have a range in our ability to get the images you are happy to display in your home!
